Letter From Philanthropy Chair
The women of Alpha Lambda are extremely passionate about our national philanthropy, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Throughout the year, we host three large fundraisers benefitting Arkansas Children’s Hospital, our local CMN Hospital located in Little Rock, Arkansas.
This past fall, we hosted a bingo night where all of our proceeds directly benefitted Arkansas Children's Hospital. This event was open to Tech students, family, and friends. It was a fun-filled evening with great prizes and even better company! In winter, we host a Black Light Dodgeball tournament which consists of teams from the Ruston community and fellow Tech students. Finally, during our annual Parent’s Weekend in the spring, we host Carnation Convivium, a gala-type event including a silent auction, local vendor shopping, a presentation of our newest members, and a presentation of various awards honoring our outstanding chapter members. Convivium also welcomes Phi Mu alumnae to reconnect with their chapter and sisters!
In addition to these fundraisers, we also participate in community organizations such as The Boys and Girls Club of North Central Louisiana, North Central Louisiana Arts Council, Rock Steady Boxing, and Arbor and Terrace to name a few. We also enjoy supporting other campus organizations' philanthropy events.
Being Alpha Lambda's Philanthropy Chairman has given me the privilege to personally witness and experience how a group of young women can actively make a difference in the world. The first line of our creed states “To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand,’’ and I believe our chapter exemplifies this attribute all year round. I hope to see you at our future events!
For the Kids,
Bonnie Woods, Philanthropy Chairman 2020
